We adopted Tatiana when she was almost 11 from Russia. She lived a turbulent childhood, moving from family to orphanage, to foster family back to orphanage...then finally to us. Her adjustments here have been amazing, however. We expected a lot more rebellion or attachment issues and are thankful she is a pleasant child most of the time. We have had her in counseling since the beginning...even before she could speak English. I have to laugh that the times I came to the counselor with what I thought was 'the orphanage years rearing its ugly head' was just 'normal teenage girl issues'. As the mom of 4 boys, I am quickly learning that one teenage girl is equal to them in drama, emotions and more.
She still has trouble with some english vocabulary and sometimes is just thinking too fast to say the right things. Recently we had a 'crisis' while trying to find a religion book. I insisted I had bought her it already and she was claiming she still needed it. The story has a funny ending. You can see it at my blog...

Can anyone else relate to this? Teenagers? Are they as exasperating as mine?
