“… passion comes through in her clear, easy to read e-guide.  The information is on target and delivers not only what to expect, but what to do as well with insight, compassion and real examples.  I would recommend What To Expect From Your Adopted Tween for anyone as the core issues and inherent loss in adoption span any age.” ~ Dawn Espelage, LSW and adoptive parent

Very interesting…

“Children of adoptive couples, even when compared to the general population, have better economic environments and have parents who are better educated and more mature than the parents of the general population.” I tend to think this is probably true, for several reasons.

Other studies show that the parents of adoptive children generally have more stable homes and are less likely to divorce than the general public.” I think this may be more true of domestic infant adoptions than older child, foster-care, and international adoptions.

I am the first to advocate for older child adoption (foster-care adoption is an issue particularly close to my heart). However, the emotional, behavioral, and developmental issues of some children can put a huge strain on families and on marriages. With that said, I still encourage people all the time to adopt from foster care and consider children past infancy. But they need to prepare for the stress seek support and help.
