Hope your holidays went well.  I saw this on a friends FB wall and thought I'd pass it on:

By adopting a child and helping them reach their potential, they help us reach ours. An adopted child is not an unwanted child; to the contrary. They are a child who was searched for, prayed for, cried for, begged for; received by arms that ached, making empty hearts full. Love is meant to be shared." Author unknown

That's HILARIOUS!!!  I can just see it...  My good friend Cindy (who started www.choseninternational.org for adoptive teens & their families) has two girls adopted from the Ukraine.  I'll bet they'd love this story!

We just hosted a group of orphaned  teens from Ukraine. At a local Mexican restaurant one of the girls made a face at the new foods. My husband attempted to tell her in Russian that if she didn't like the food our friend also at the table would trade with her, but wanted her to taste it first.

The interpreter who came with the group let my husband fumble through his broken Russian before he told him, "You just told her she will eat the man and the man will eat her."

My husband assured him that cannibalism is what we do here in America!

My adopted son with CP was explaining disabilities to his brother:

"You know, C everyone is different," Z began. "Some people are tall, some are really short. Some have good eye sight, some don't. Some have good hearing and some don't. Some people even have different taste."

I suppose having bad taste could be considered a disability to some!

We recently took our eldest daughter who was adopted internationally as a teenager to a medical appointment. Walking into the waiting room with our elderly black social worker was a young lady of Jewish heritage, a student. My daughter was excited to see them both and greeted them "Oh, this is your daughter right?"
I was so proud of her, obviously adoption has made her color blind and open to all possibilities!

To Honor a Mother

A Mother is special and deserves her own Day,
To celebrate all that she gives.
The giving of Love is first on her list,
And ends at the end of the day with a Kiss!

But the “giving list” is never ending
For a Mom who her family depends,
The jobs on her list are only a part of it,
It’s the Love that she gives without end!

For some of our children who were born of another,
Our thoughts turn to Moms far away.
She gave us the most precious gift ever given,
And deserves to be part of this Day!

When your children are sharing their gifts made by hand,
And breakfast in bed was brought in with care,
Remember to say a prayer for another –
To honor the blessings you share!

We just spent spring break with my mom who only gets to see our kids once or twice a year. Our son now nine years old, who was adopted almost three years ago from Ukraine announced to us all that we needed to formally adopt Grandma now as our family. We all signed the documents he created so that we reaffirmed to grandma she was our forever family!

I had an interesting experience with orange juice the other day. If you need a good laugh today, you can read about it on Dillon’s blog at www.dillonadopt.blogspot.com
