I have a friend who is a birth mom. She kept her first and placed her second. She has an amazing open relationship with her AC. If you would like I could see if she would email you or talk to you about it :) Go to my blog Her name is Taren... she is a video interview ... you can listen to it and go from there. Let me know what you think :)

My husband and I just adopted a little girl( 8weeks today) and we have an open adoption with the Birth Parents who also have children. I would love to know if anyone else out there has a similiar situation and how you interact with the family and other siblings?

I would love to adopt from Arizona, My Mom lives there and it would be so fun to meet the birth mom and have family be apart of it :)

Ah, a money tree. Wouldn't that be great? lol Well, it took us almost two years to get to where we are now- there were two failed placements in there, but regardless of the route you go, there is never a concrete wait time. I hope yours goes fast! :)

Hi Laura, Yes, each AAAA attorney will keep your letter and profile on file and work to match you for a minimal or no cost. We paid for our meeting (over two hours long) with Rita and to retain her as our or our bmom's attorney which was only a couple hundred dollars. When we are matched we will pay all of the legal fees, living, etc but no additional fees. On average this will result in a total cost of about 12-15 thousand. Each attorney in the state has our letter and profile and contacts us when they have a situation. There have been no other cost other than the retainer. Now this may take longer but my husband and I are willing to wait as we don't want to go into debt to build our family. Although, it would be great to have a money tree outside =)

We will only use attorneys from AAAA. Our attorney here in MN is the Rita of MN. She's awesome. But MN is more of an agency state- I don't think many of the attorneys of programs for helping adoptive families getting matched with birth parents. From what I understand, AZ is more of an attorney state, and there aren't a lot of agencies. So that's why I was wondering if the attorneys have programs set up...I guess we'll probably get in contact with Rita when the time comes. Right now we're just excited to be adopting our first child- after been together for over ten years, we are more than ready to be parents! :)

Candice and Ira- I hope the pic comes soon! :)

Laura K, Kristine & Mike: We wish you all the best. It's exciting and scary all at the same time. We love Rita. She's awesome. I really hope we can use her soon as we feel so comfortable with her. My friends just recently adopted and used Rita as their BM's atty too and had a wonderful experience. We are waiting for one last picture to come back from the photo lab to finish our profile that we had to completely redo. Waiting for this picutre is driving me batty. It was a special order kind of thing and on Tues. I will have waited 4 weeks for this picture. They told me it was gonna be 2 weeks. Aaaarrrrgggghhhhh !!!
