Comment by Kelsey Stewart on October 6, 2009 at 10:33am: I am the birth mother of three children. I have a daughter in her late teens and twin boys in their mid teens. I fought to have open adoptions and I have been fortunate to watch them grow through pictures and letters from their parents. I have a relationship with my daughter and I have spent time with her over the years, she was even in my wedding and walked the isle just before I did. I was blessed with two great sets of parents who allowed me to heal and move on with my life with their generousity in our adoptions. I am now in my late 30's,I have been married for ten years to my wonderful man and we have two amazing boys of our own.

I am also an author/illustrator of a childrens book. I was finally brave enough and ready to put into words what I was feeling when I made that monumental decision for my children. I hope that this book can help children everywhere understand that adoption is about the LOVE for them, not that they were not wanted. I want adoptees to know that they are loved more than they could ever imagine and it is a very difficult decision for a mother to make. I have had immensely positive reactions to this book and I wanted to share it with you so that you know that this point of view is out there. This book is honest, open and filled with compassion. It may help with those sometimes difficult discussions between parents and their adopted children. Not to mention, I think it is time that someone speak out about the POSITIVES of having an open adopotion.

My goal is to tell the positive side of a birth mother's decission. I hope this book can help some of you out there dicuss adoption with your children.
