Hi. I'm new to this group. I'm an adoptive mom of two beautiful children both through closed adoptions. We would have prefered open adoptions... and still have our door open, waiting and hoping that our childrens' birth parents will contact us some day. Just curious to hear more feedback from all members of the triad, I guess. Glad to join the group.

Hi I am new to this group. I found my birth family this week and I'm not to sure what to think of all of it. I got to talk to a cousin and my sister but no one else yet. I guess what my problem is that my amom lied to me. She told me and others that they had a fire and could not keep me. She has passed away since then but still. I know she did what she did to protect me but couldn't she of told me the truth before she died. And then there's the guilt of being adopted while my sister had to live in hell. I feel so bad for that poor girl. I just don't know how to handle that. Now I know why my amom got so mad when I asked her about them. And I am angry that the birth family did nothing to help her. They want me to go to a family reunion and I'm not sure I can. I want to see them but I am afraid I will open that mouth of mine. I can only pray that God keeps it shut. I feel so connected with her, it's like the hole has now been filled. I am not sure what to feel and don't even know if this is normal. Surprise among surprises my afamily was glad for me to find them. OMG! Do you feel this way when there are siblings left behind? I'm mad at my brother, he knows about me and hasn't called. I called and left a message. Darn it I have looked for 15 years for these people. I just don't know what to think. Can someone help me sort this out?

Wow Tracy! That's huge. Best wishes!

Katie, wow! How neat that she found you. I'd love to hear more about your reunion. I'm not quite your age ; ) but in 1969 practices were fairly simalar, from what I've heard.

I am new to this group and kind of an old-timer as I was placed for adoption in 1957! Anyone else out there from my era? In 2007, shortly after turning 50, I received a letter in the mail from my birthmother!! Yes, WOW indeed! Totally unexpected but something I have discovered that I was waiting for. This experience has been nothing short of magical!! There have been bumps in the road but nothing that we have not been able to overcome and move forward. Later-in-life reunions ROCK!!!

I suppose I am really lucky ...found my Bmom at age 20,and,yes,illegally,as that was all you could do in those days...we're talking 1980,Va. But,am a really good amateur detective and did and while it was in some ways not that great an experience,I cherish it and would do it again and again... we as adoptees ought to be allowed access,at either 18 or 21(can live w/either) to know who we are and what we are and where and from whom we come!!!Will never believe otherwise...and my opinion has cost me my entire adoptive family.Tough, but true and worth it in my case.

Am a 47 y o adoptee, closed adoption, found my birthmom at age 20(yes,illegally,but was all we could do then),and while it was less than i had hoped for, would not trade it for anything!!!She acknowledged me and I found out I had a brother(9 years younger) also released 4 adoption...has been a journey and a half...
