Comment by Mahmee on Wednesday Thanks Mommy M for the reply.
We've requested to be matched only with foster children who have bio parents with terminated rights. We have another child already who couldn't handle watching a potential sibling be removed from our home before adoption. It will probably make the process a little longer but it is what it is.
I hope your friends are able to find a good match.

Comment by Hannah Curtis on Monday Hi everyone - Ethan and I are hoping to adopt and get to know others who are also hoping to adopt. We have our homestudy one and are hoping to connect to do a private adoption. We are always looking for suggestions on how to connect. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Mahmee, We are in PA and friends of ours did foster-to-adopt. I'm not sure if that is quite the same that you are discussing. The agency and all case workers involved know that they wanted to adopt available children, but any child whether adoptable or not can be placed in their home.
In PA there is a shortage for foster parents so their paperwork was actually pushed through so that they could accept waiting children. They have one child since he was 6 weeks old and now he is 18 months old. He has had 1.5 hour visits with his mother every week and reconciliation is expected within 90 days. Good for the mom and difficult for the foster couple.
If you want to chat with her I maybe able to hook the two of you up? Hope this helps.
Comment by Mahmee on May 5, 2012 at 8:29am We are adopting from foster care in the state of oregon. We turned our paperwork into DHS in early March. The case worker predicts that she'll be getting to our homestudy sometime in June or July. Then, we wait again for our file to be chosen as a match and go to committee for a vote. Has anyone else out there been through this process coming in cold (meaning not already having a foster child in their home)? Any ideas on wait time? Any suggestions on...well, anything? Thanks!
Depending on where they are in NY and if they would like to do independent adoption, I have an amazing social worker to do the homestudy and a really awesome attorney. I have adopted 3 times and used them for all. i have known them for 5 years now. PM me if you want their names, I am on Long Island.
Comment by kristen murphy on May 5, 2012 at 3:52am I am looking for an adoption agency and/or a homestudy agency in NY for friends of mine who are starting on their adoption journey.
If there is anyone that you would/would not recommend please let me know.
Any help would be much appreciated.
thank you!
Comment by Anna Mann on April 25, 2012 at 11:49am I can't believe we are in "the big wait" again. First time we went from profile turn in to baby in six weeks. This time I think will be longer. (Same agency though.) Its only been four months so far. We live on a farm and have a beautiful happy life, we're just ready to grow again.
We recently had a failed adoption and looking for new ways to network. Has anyone used an adoption referral agency successfully? The more reading we do about them, the more intrigued we are. wondering if we should go that path vs. our adoption agency who seems may have more on her plate.
Hi, my husband and I are from NY. Due to a heart condition I was highly advised not to have children as the pregnancy/labor could possibly kill me and maybe even the baby. The news was quite devestating to say the least. We decided to do domestic independent adoption. We have been advertising for a year now with no luck.
