I can't ever decide if I like Parent Profiles or not. We are on there so I can feel like we are doing something more to be more visible, but sometimes I feel like it's a waste of money. I've talked to several (and I mean SEVERAL) people about it and just about everyone thought it was worth it even if they didn't end up adopting through there. We have had some scammers contact us there, so be on the lookout! I think we will try it for a year and then re-evaluate things and see if we want to keep it. One of them was a free one and we get a scam email about once a week from it so I wouldn't recommend anything free.

Thanks for the info. on the tax credit. I'll send an e-mail to my Rep right now. We've been counting on this when we do finally adopt, and even though we've paid most of our monies out already, our account says we can't claim the credit until an adoption is finalized.

Savannah, my husband is about to create our website plus I'm thinking of using parent profile..is that a good site? I would love a link to your blog. I will keep you up to date. Already wrote my birth letter and did my book as I have no patience when it comes to this adoption process. I try to do everything I can simultaneously so I have everthing ready when they ask for it.

Just FYI for everyone. The adoption tax credit is set to expire in December 2010. There is an new law in congress to make this a permanent tax credit. Please write or call your congressman to encourage their support of H.R. 213: The Adoption Tax Relief Guarantee Act of 2009. Without it those of us that don't finalize our adoptions before December of next year won't be able to use the tax credit! That would be detrimental to many of us!

Oh and if I have misinterpreted anything please correct me someone!

Here is the info on the adoption tax credit:

It depends on how much you pay in taxes each year- it may take a few years of refunds to get the full adoption amount back, but you can stretch it over more than one tax year, but you can't take it until the year the adoption is final.
It's exciting someone is willing to give you a loan- they are smart!

We have a relative that is consideering giving us a loan for our Adoption. But wants proof that we will be getting money back from the taxt credit to pay her back. So I was wondering if any one knew any articals that went into detail about how we get the money back or can any one tell me so I can explain it to her.

Hello All,
I am new here also. We are adopting domestically. We completed our last home study visit at our home last month. Our SW is completing the final details and just notified us about one more small thing that is required now. Our profile almost has the finishing touches on it and I hope to have it completed by tomorrow, or latest, the end of the week for our SW to proof. This will be our first child. So, I guess, we are waiting at this point.
