Shelley -

Are you using an agency? What age of child are you looking to adopt? I also thought the dossier was pretty easy, but I don't have anything to compare it to. I am stressing out about having all of my papers up to date once we get our referral. I guess I will wait until that time comes though. Good luck to you! When do you expect to travel?

We're in the process of adopting from Bulgaria. We're adopting children with special needs though, so we won't have to wait on a referral. We've been very pleased with how easy the dossier is(we've previously adopted from Ukraine and Serbia) and love our contact in Bulgaria. I'm looking forward to meeting her when we get there on trip one!

Is anyone adopting from Bulgaria. We were registered in country on May 25, 2009 & are told it is currently a 12 - 18 month wait for the referral. Would loved to hear from anyone who has been through the process. Thanks!!

Wherever you decide to adopt that requires traveling overseas you want to be sure to do as much research as possible to ensure you're working with legitimate agencies and represenatives. Unfortuantely, there are adoption scams out there so doing the research is an absolute must. Getting verifiable referrals to adoption agencies and representatives from a number of trusted resources and friends is a plus.

Denise, I know that rainbow kids is not an agency. I was simply asking if anyone has had any success finding a match through that route. I have done the "homework" and was offered the opportunity to adopt two special needs kids that I "found" on that site. I was looking for others who have had similar experiences. The site is not bad just because of the photolistings, and only some children are listed with photos. To get any real information on any of the kids there, one must have an approved home study and work directly with the representing agency.

It is my understanding that the kids listed with Rainbowkids are with different agencies and such.... they are not an agency....simply a photolisting/education site... Not all agencies that use photolistings are good... please do your homework!
