Hi all! I am a birth mother of two years through family services. I just wanted to let everyone know about the Michael McLean adoption fireside at bountiful regional center in ut. I can get a few tickets to those who are close enough to come!!! Let me know

Sharon - that's awesome! We didn't take too many pictures of the blessing either and I'm still pretty bummed about it. What I really wanted was a picture of everyone who came. Oh well - definitely get that blessing dress picture - I still have my own picture and it is precious!

Well it went great! Emily was sealed to us on Saturday afternoon. As soon as they brought her in she immediately started looking at the chandeleir. She was mesmerized! She did fuss a little when my mom (who was holding her) put Em's hand on ours, but as soon as she noticed us she was fine. She just sat there and stared at the sealer almost like she was taking in every single word her was saying. She went back to the nursery with our moms and we went to change (it was wet, cold and rainy and hubby didn't want to do pictures in white). We went to the nursery to get her and she was crying. As soon as she saw me she started reaching for me and fell asleep almost immediately. Her blessing went great too. I got pics at the temple, but none of her blessing. I am going to have pictures done of her in her blessing dress before she grows out of it. But ya, it went great. What a wonderful weekend! :D

Corrine, thanks for the advice on the luncheon. Originally we were going to do one today, but opted not to because we didn't want the stress of planning it. But we talked about it and decided to do one tomorrow. Originally (before we were chosen officially) we were going to have her blessed at a luncheon, not at church, but we decided we are having her blessed during church because our ward family has been so supportive of us. Not a Sunday goes by when we don't get several people coming up to see Emily and asking how the adoption is going. We wanted them to take part in the blessing as well. We have about 2 dozen we have invited to her sealing as well. So we are doing a get together after the blessing tomorrow. I'm glad we decided to. Even though our house isn't really big, I think it will be nice anyway. :o)

I hadn't even thought of her being scared at the way we will be dressed! I figure at this point, what's the use in worrying. This is the day we have been waiting 9+ years for, so I might as well go with it. :D I can imagine Em loving the mirrors, she loves to look at herself. And I can imagine her being very vocal and blowing raspberries. LOL We'll see what happens! 2:30 can't come fast enough!

Courtney, it true Mormon style, we had a huge meal! LOL!

I was talking about the blessings. For sealings, Nate did GREAT! We should have scheduled Lizzie's sealing at a different time, though. She was sooooo ready for a nap, and kept crying at the chandelier, lol. She fell asleep while we were changing and all our pics outside the temple were taken w/ her sleeping in my arms.

Sharon - I'm so happy for you - this day has finally come! I guess we were lucky because our son was a perfect little angel at his sealing. We made sure he was well rested and a pacifier just in case, but truly it was a perfect moment!

my daughter played peek-a-boo in the temple mirrors at the sealing and cried during the blessing we had right after the temple in our home. I would just be prepared for it and pleasantly surprised if your baby doesn't cry. I was the one who brought in my friends 18 month old when she was sealed to them and she FLIPPED out b/c she'd never seen her parents dressed that way. I ended up having to hold her hand while kneeling at the alter while she screamed. It was sad and she did not want to see her parents until they were outside. so, I guess I'm sealed to 2 families now;) j/k. Good luck. Just remember to make your blessing something special to you and your family. We had so many people come into town we just had the blessing at our home right after we came from the temple. After the blessing a prayer was said and we had a luncheon for all who came:) I felt surrounded by those who truly loved and cared for us and for our choice to adopt. It was wonderful and there is no more of a sacred place then your home ( except the temple- of course) To each your own though. It's very diff. in UT! Good Luck and fear not!
