Hello!! I just found this group... I haven't been on this website in a very long time. Anyway, my husband & I are finally getting everything ready to adopt through the MN Waiting Children program!! Right now, we have all the paperwork into our agency, just waiting on our background checks to come back before we can continue with the homestudy and approval process... Just wanted to say Hi!! :)

We just received our license, so don't have any children, but are looking forward to the day when we do!! I appreciate that advice ... especialy because we would be first-time parents! :)

That is so wonderful, what county are you going through? We didn't foster to adopt, but adopted a sibling group of 3 (2 at first the other came later). I I would be happy to answer any questions I could. When you say approved does that mean you have a child/children moving in soon? I guess my biggest advice that I give is to be honest with yourself about what you can handle. Don't bite off more than you can chew (some people can chew a whole lot more than others). At first I felt guilty when I felt like I couldn't handle something but now realize I wouldn't be doing the children any favors if I did take it on...we'll talk (c:

My husband and I have just been approved for fostering and adoption through the State. We are so excited to start this journey! Does anyone have any advice for working with the State of MN? Thanks in advance for your help! Have a wonderful day!
