Hi. I'm Becki. My home study should be complete in 6-8 weeks. I'm 40+, still haven't found Mr. Right, so I'll be adopting from fostercare as a single parent. I'd love to adopt under the age of 3, but have been advised to expect an 8-10 year-old girl.

I'd appreciate any pointers... advise... etc.

My Mother got pregnant the first time, (4 of us), My older sister has two kids and my younger sister has two kids after having 6 miscarriages. Im can never carry kids and have to hope and pray a birth mother chooses us soon. it has been a long trying 28 months.......

Kathleen, Welcome! I totally understand how we want to be and are really happy for friends and family when they get pregnant but we also feel a pang of pain, like being kicked in the stomach! So hard! Just less than a month after my 3rd miscarriage I found out my sister in law was pregnant with her 3rd child. One that wasn't even planned!! But keep the faith and think that any babies born within this year or near now will be a potential play mate for your child! Try to keep positive but know we are always here to listen and we do understand. Some days are better then others and some days just suck! Find things that do give you hope. You WILL be a mom, it's the not knowing when, that can drive a person mad!!

Awesome Amy! My husband and I are open to any ethnicity. We may have an African American or Bi-racial baby! We can't wait either. Congrats on all your great articles at The Examiner. I may write for them too. Peace,
Angie

Hey all! 1st one for me as well! We are so excited I can't even stand it. Our house is so quiet now, I can't wait for the noise of a little Ethiopian blessing fills our walls!

Savannah, Welcome! Thanks for joining. Yes. It is SO hard to sit by and watch others have their kids while our arms are still empty. We can love all those family members and friends but there is that pang of envy and yearning. I totally get it!

Yay, you did it! I think this will be a great group. We are a unique set of people as we wait to be first time parents. I hate that from both of our families we were both the first to marry and now his sister has two kids.
