Regarding children fearing they will be sent away -- I experienced that in a different way. Maya has a cousin by birth. A girl exactly her age, by a month. For a couple of years Savannah would cry when I came near her. I finally came to believe that she saw me as "the baby snatcher." She understood that Maya was her cousin and that she didn't live with the rest of the family. I think she was scared. It took me years for Savannah to smile at me. Now she will even let me hug her. Patience with your daughter. It will make sense little by little. The most important thing, as you understand, is that she knows that is her house, you are her parents, and no one can change that.
