Funny Melissa my husband is tempted to do the same thing!

My husband actually has an untrue and rather shocking response to the question we get, "did you adopt?". He wants to say "No, I'm just a very forgiving husband". I have to admit that it would be interesting to see people's reactions to that but he has never actually said it.

I get that a lot too! I just answer "North Carolina". Then they just don't know what to say! LOL

I hate that question too. Everyone assumes the are from Ethiopia because thats what "everyone" here does.

The question I get all the time is, "Where are they from?" I say, "From the hospital." I think that people assume that if your kids are black and you are white (or light-skinned hispanic in my case) they must have come from Africa.

We have four adopted children, the youngest is half AA and caucasian. Until we started the paperwork to become foster parents, I had no idea I was considered bi-racial. My father is hispanic my mother italian.....yes I'm a little hot blooded at times. The joke in our family is we adopted so my husband (caucasian) could have someone to share his sunscreen with! I get told almost on a daily basis how much the baby looks like me. When my mom met her for the first time she was 4 months old and my mothers response was "She looks more like you than you do." My favorite question is "Are they all your children?" My answer "YES!!"

Hi, we have four children first three are all biological and our baby is AA. We do get a lot of looks and lots of questions....none which bother or offend me we are so proud to have him part of our family. He is very light and has blue eyes and light hair so I think most of the looks are trying to figure things out. It sometimes makes me chuckle. We would love to adopt two more (all depends on the financial situation) and we've decided they both would be AA for the same point of having someone to identify with. Glad to join the group.

Hi! Our son KJ joined our family through domestic adoption last April at 9 days old. We are in the process of starting again and hope to adopt another AA or bi-racial child in 2010! I am so thankful for this group already!! =)

Hi! We have 2 transracially adopted babies. Our first is a dd who is AA/Hispanic and is 22 months old. Our ds we believe is full AA and is 15 days old.
