We had planned to go to Ukraine and Vietnam in 2011. But we are worried, confused about adoption in Vietnam. According to information I know, I've received a few questions about recent rumors of Vietnam's open door or not? : http://www.adoptionintegrity.com/2010/12/31/a-cautionary-statement-...
. But today I received news that they changed the law on adoption and have three more new laws for adoption issues. (http://www.adoptionintegrity.com/2011/01/12/vietams-ministry-of-jus... )- But none any information say that adopted between the U.S. and Vietnam was actually open. Anyone have advice for this problem, please share. Thanks.

Oh so good. I came across your site. I think only a few months when passed in 2011. They will complete a number of conventions and laws on their adoption. Then, adoptions between Vietnam and the United States can join together to normal. Thanks you very much for sharing.

Jamal, I've heard that Vietnam may re-open sometime in 2011. After implementation of the Hague Convention which went through this month! I believe there are new laws that need to be put into place before hand. So, I'm guessing it will take some time to process these changes and license agencies before it's up and running. I'm hoping maybe a few months or so? Not really sure... It wouldn't hurt to call an agency that has worked in Vietnam before and ask them. Check out this site for updates and info. http://www.adoptionintegrity.com/
We love Vietnam and hope they do re-open. Fingers crossed!

We used to think to southeast Asian countries. And especially Vietnam. But as the information I know to adopt children from Vietnam was suspended. . So now, we can still apply from Vietnam or wait for Vietnam's accession to the Hague Convention on adoption and implementation of a child welfare system that meets the standards of the Convention. Anyone with advice or information on this can tell me?

Our son was born in Vietnam in 2007. We love the Vietnamese culture and hope that Vietnam and the US can continue a positive dialogue so families and children can be united in an ethical way.
