I am a huge fan of Nancy Verrier and Betty Jean Lifton. Also Twenty Things Adoptive Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew by Sherrie Eldridge - I found this extremely validating. And then I must add that writing my own book (Someone's Daughter) abou…
Laura, a white South African, is the mother of two boys (her biological sons) and Megan, her black adopted daughter. I asked her about the challenges of raising a black child in a white family. Her response was so moving I had to share her words. Re…

As an adoptee, I know very little about my birth-father. There is so much I would love to ask him but I doubt whether I’ll ever have the opportunity. So I’ve devised a list of questions for birth-fathers, and I’m hoping that your honest answers will…
For me it was as if the book had been written about me. I only found out about my adoption at around 37, and the book helped clear up so many issues that I was experiencing but couldn't understand why.
I suspected for years that I was adopted, but never had the courage to confront my parents, because I was afraid of hurting them and of what the answer would be. Eventually I asked a trusted friend to do it for me. Receiving confirmation of my suspi…
Hi Vinci, I can so relate with what you are feeling. I was around 38 when I learned about my adoption and my parents still don't talk about it either. I have written a book about my experience and they have yet to acknowledge it. But I have come to…

The secret's out, but the silence continues
When I first learned of my adoption around nine years ago I thought, great, now that the secret’s out my parents will no longer have to worry about someone blurting out the information to me and we will be…
I am a late discovery adoptee. The discovery, in my mid-thirties had such a profound and permanent impact on my life and that of my husband and children that I wrote a book about it - SOMEONE'S DAUGHTER-She's adopted, but don't tell
Hello fellow author! Thank you for taking the time to find me on Facebook. I did become your fan and I also put your fan page on mine as a favorite. I know someone who would love to read your book and I will keep you in mind should I come across anyone who else who would benefit from reading this point of view.
Thank you so very much for the contact. I plan on purchasing a copy of your book, I so appreciate the adoptee voice. If I may ask, who did you publish with?
Hello Aurette,
I just read your post about your book and I wanted to congratulate you on your accomplishment. I am sure it was not easy to learn of your adoption at a late stage in your life and I think it is wonderful that you put into words how you felt.
I also wrote a book recently. I am a birth mother and I wrote a children's book explaining to my child my reasons for placing them for adoption. It is a very honest yet compassionate book that had been receiving a lot of attention in the last couple of weeks. I just thought I would let you know that it is out there should you want to check it out. I have had many adult adoptees send me messages telling me how much they appreciate my point of view.
I just wanted to say hello and congrats on your amazing endevour!
Have a great day,
