- We had an open adoption, and were able to bring our now 11 yr old home from the hospital at 2 days old. She is the joy of our lives. For me adopting was very intense. The ups and downs of not knowing if my daughters birth mother would actually give her up. It was also the most exciting thing I have ever went through. I've given birth to 3 other children and I tell my daughter she was the only one we planned for :)
