we adopted our first through LDSFS. Our second the wait was quite long so we found a situation through a private attorney but used our LDSFS homestudy. We feel there is one more and would like to go through LDSFS again. So how would the policy chang…

Hi Friends,
Just another reason for open adoption. We just welcomed a newborn to our home last month. Little Christian is doing well but had some complications. We are seeing several medical professionals. Thanks to our open adoption we have and dar…
Shiloh,
Good luck to you. I hope you find the support and information you are looking for. Thank you for your choice of adoption. Without birthmothers I would never be a mom.
Christine
It really depends on the adoption and the agreements made. Of course each agency has their fees too. For us and some of our friends its the national average anywhere from 18-30k. It's weird going outside the "safety" of an agency though.
Larry jenkins is our attorney for a private adoption as well. Another I would suggest is Derek Williams in Utah He is an adoptive dad and adoption attorney. He is representing our bmom at the hospital. Great people!!
Oh Alicia,
I am so heartbroken for you!! We've had a few failed placements this year. So difficult when you meet and have a connection with a birthmom and then agency changes the situation. Each time our caseworker told me to if possible continue su…
Looking for our next child to join our family!! Check out our website www.BrianChristine.com
We had a 10 year quest to find our son Ashton- James or James as we call him. We struggled through infertility and treatments. The quest for our family eventually brought us to adoption. Now we can't imagine our family coming in any other way!! We are strong advocates for adoption and are very active in educating our community and other couples. We are so happy to have the gift of adoption that brings together a birth family with our family and have room in our hearts for another child and birth family!!
Hello Christine,
Just checking back to see if you received the book The Best For You? Was curious what you thought about it. Thank you for ordering it. SInce my article int eh Ventura County Star, things have really been pickign up! Tapestry Book had me do a guest article to see if the responses were good...if they are then they will consider putting my book in their inventory. I think things may be starting to pay off.
Christine,
We have been communicating with a woman in Florida, but she hasn't written now in 2 weeks, so we are assuming it is a no go. She made and cancelled two appointments with the case worker there, which was a little frustrating. Oh well. At least it helps us feel the PP is helping give us exposure.
Helen
I love your adoption story! Funny, I'm married now with a son named Ashton. Anyways I just love LDSFS here in Salt Lake. I love the people and the counseling and the environment :)
Christine... thanks for the invite! I think of you and your husband quite often. It was your incredible class at LDS Family Services that inspired both Clint and me to actually get excited about and to understand adoption. I will never forget your inspirational message and especially all the time and effort it took to put everything together. A million thank-yous for all you have done for us. Our sweet Addison Rae is 14 months old! Time DOES fly! I think we are going to go international for our next child. We are hoping to adopt from the Dominican Republic, as Clint does a lot of dental humanitarian work there. We are hoping you will get the next addition to your family VERY SOON!!!!! Love, Clint, Rachel and Addison
I read that you are going to conference in Layton at the end of the month. I look forward to meeting you. I'm going to ask Valerie at the committee mtg this week if we can have some announcement or poster or something so everyone on AV can meet up for lunch and get to know each other. I think that would be great.
No - we just did the regular monthly thing. I'm not sure all the criteria the agency was looking for on parent profiles, but the main thing was Down syndrome and multi-racial.
