I was adopted fromthe Crittenden Home for Girls in Peoria, Illinois in March of 1966. I was raised by my parents who I wouldn't trade for the world. If I ever had the chance to talk to my birthmother, the first thing I would tell her is that I love her because she loved me enough to make sure I had a good life. Wasn't an easy decision, but at the time, no teenage unwed mother kept a baby. From stories I have read, being in the girls home wasn't a cake walk either. I believe she did the right thing, sacrificed her dignity and hopefully is at peace with the choice she made, it was the right one. Anyone reading this, my birthday is March 17, 1966. I was born at Peoria Meth Hosptial in Peoria, Illinois. My adoption was a closed adoption, I would love to have medical information for myself and my children.
My best friend adopted 3 children from the foster system which was one of the most awesome things a person can do. She is no longer with us, but her kids are awesome!!
Wow, I love your adoption story. Even though I have a pretty open adoption with the adoptive couple who adopted "Bunny" I still wonder if she will know it was because I love her. I love reading stories like yours because it truly means there is hope and understanding that Bunny will understand too :)
