- I am the adoptive mother of a girl born in China. Lu Yao was born in Fengxin county of the Jiangxi Province and officially became our daughter January 28, 2007. She was 8-1/2 months old, and my husband and I had waited for her for about 18 months. Very short considering the typical waiting times these days. We were so very lucky to have gotten our paperwork in when we did. A mere month or 2 later, and we would have waited more like 2-1/2 to 3 years. When the new laws ("guidelines") went into effect in 2008 (?), we were no longer considered eligible for adoption from China. We are so thankful for our one precious child!! We have discussed "special needs" adoption, but my husband really doesn't want to have a second child. We just passed our 3 yr. anniversary as a family, and the Chinese New Year is always very auspicious for us personally. I am always looking to make connections to other adoptive parents in the San Francisco Bay area, in particular, and anywhere in general. My husband and I are both Caucasian, so it's always good to know families that more closely resemble ours. As an only child and one who differs "racially" from us, we'd like for our daughter to have lots of friends who she can identify with.

- We've been to one event so far. There's not a playgroup up & running in EG, but I know of several adoptive families here, so maybe we can get something going.

- Are you involved with the FCC group? We belong to the Northern California chapter, but I know they have a groups closer to SF, too.

Thanks for the compliment about the blog. I have lots of things I'd like to write about (when I have the time), and hearing that other folks are interested in the same things I am makes it easier to keep on blogging.
