Please note that everyone here has had a different situation and experience as far as being part of the adoption triad. Many chose closed vs open, regardless, we are supposed to be here to help bring one another up in times of grief and joy.

We adopted our first, through a private adoption, in Feb. 2008 (finalized Aug 2008). We turned our paperwork back in to the agency that helped with our first adoption May, 2009. Then in January, we decided, for many reasons, we were supposed to go t…

Share a little about your adoption story
When my son, Andrew, was 10 hours old, we received a phone call. We brought him home 8 long hours later and finalized his adoption 7 long, long months later. He fit right into our adoption-diverse family and strengthened our conviction that adoption truly is an amazing miracle!

Hi! I'm Sheyann, married to Jeremy (JJ), with one adopted son, Andy. I was born and raised on a potato farm in Idaho and love living in the country. I have a degree in Registered Nursing and work nights so I can be a mommy to Andy during the day. JJ, who's father was in the Air Force, claims Great Falls, Montana as his hometown. He works fulltime as a computer technician. We love to tease, tickle, play, watch movies, ride ATV's, camp, hike, waterski/tube, blog, fly fish, swim, cook, digital scrapbook, read, grill, travel to new and fun places, spend lots of time with family, take photographs, go to playgrounds, and relax with our families!!!!

With that pretty picture painted of our life's high points, here's the rest of our life story!

We are a regular, run-of-the-mill-country family to most people. We are not perfect, nor will we ever promise to be perfect. My husband snores, sometimes I'm pretty dang cranky, my house is messy sometimes but well lived in and full of love, I can't stand doing laundry, and Andy hates wearing pants. We are not rich and we live on a budget, our house is not big, but still has two empty rooms. Oh, and despite my love of cooking, I often burn food or make something nasty.

While our greatest joy has come from spending time with family; whether it be our weekly Sunday visits, weekly phone calls, shopping trips, movie nights, camping excursions, weekend vacations, tractor rides, babysitting, or stopping by on our way home from the grocery store, those relationships take work. To us, family is a constant commitment... nobody is perfect, we all get mad, frustrated, offended, and hurt; family are the people that turn around, apologize, communicate better, and continue working on relationships.

We may not have millions of friends, rather, we feel more comfortable finding a few, close friends and building strong relationships with them. Through those relationships, we have a large, supportive "family," both those blood related and those close friends we feel are "adopted" into our family. :)

That is what we can offer a birth family and a child: An honest, constant commitment as family.
