as a sterile woman, my empty womb seemed like the end of days. when the miracle of adoption was presented to us, we were given the ability to HOPE again. we dove in ...and we have never looked back.

our first son came to us through adoption. his birth mother found us using the online profiles on itsaboutlove.org. we fell in love with her immediately and are blessed that she chose an open adoption arrangement with us. she is our first angel and a wonderful addition to our lives. she is like family. we just adore her.

our second son also came to us through the miracle of adoption. his birth mother is my brother-in-law's best friend. it was a designated adoption that has brought us an insurmountable amount of joy. his birth mother is also our angel. we cherish her as well and admire her bravery. she is such an example to us.

my husband and i are strong adoption advocates. we believe adoption offers HOPE to everyone in the triad--especially the children. we love our boys to the moon and back.

we are so blessed to allow the miracle of adoption to work magic in our lives.

{three quotes that keep me going these days}

on the day we were supposed to have our trial for our 10 month old (battling an abusive birth father in a contested adoption), i was sad. sad that the judge had to have emergency surgery. sad that the light i once saw at the end of the tunnel had suddenly vanished. sad that my baby wasn't legally mine.

just sad.

we went to this charming little shop with our parents who had flown in from the east coast to support us at our trial. they were sweet--trying to distract us. being a writer, i… Continue

Thank you so much for the comment, I am sorry I am just now getting back to you. How old are your boys? It seems that while times have changed alot even from when I was adopted almost 21 yeas ago. I would say of they are still youn to be aware of others making odd looks in public, but do not shield them.

My skin forced my parents to be honest with me and from a young age I had to explain myself. It hurt at times, but looking back at myself at 5, 10, and so on, I have seen how much it has shaped me now and I would never change that.

Busy is right! Never a dull moment at our house! LOL! Spence-Chapin was definitely the smoothest, best adoption experience that I have had. They were wonderful! Right on top of everything, and the process went VERY quickly! I first saw my daughter online in September, and brought her home on Nov. 21st (my first daughter's 9th birthday!). She was 4 months old when she came home (and just turned 3 this summer!). The foster/adopt experience was scary...never knowing if it was going to go through until the last minute. And the Guatemalan adoptions were expensive, and had so many ups and downs. Again, never knowing if it was going to go through until the very end. So, Spence-Chapin all the way! :-)

Hey mrs. r!I have put together a meeting for all of us here in Utah for Saturday August 15th. We will be meeting at temple square at 11AM and will be going to lunch at the place you suggested. Just look for the one holding sign that says "adoption voices." Is there anyway you could invite everyone on your blog? Everyone is invited, no matter what their interest in adoption! Thanks so so much for all you do!

the interview went well and more followed. apparently slow news month or something. What's funny is we were a really big mess t my house that morning. I discovered my DD 8 had lice right before we were heading to the cottage. So we were upto our eyeballs in that yucky lice RT treatment and the house was pulled apart and anyways then the reporter called for TV and I'm like Oh geez excellent timing. Anyways I said to someone after I didn't look as bad as I felt so 'sall good I guess. I will not see the movie as it is to blatantly creepy and insensitive. I blogged about it.
