Do you guys know how long it generally takes to get your adopted child added to your Medical Insurance? What if there are complications at birth? Do you need to purchase some sort of Temporary Insurance until your insurance company will pick them up. I know there are a million things to think about when you are adopting. I wonder if some of you who have had this experience would share so that it would make life easier on the others. Thanks for taking the time to let us know.

Exactly like Deesmom said. It was pretty easy to add my boys.

As soon as the birth mother/father sign relinquishments you are able to add your child to the Insurance plan you have. Normally you have 30 days to add a child and even if a child has complications, there should be NO issues from your insurance company when it comes to denying claims. You don't need temporary insurance but you do need to check our the protocols etc from YOUR insurance so you have everything on hand to give to the hospital after relinquishments have been signed. GOOD LUCK!
