When I tell people that I was reconnected with my birth father sometimes they say "Oh so you found your real family?"
This makes me think, what is your REAL family? Is it the people you grow up with or the people who are related to you, or maybe both?
"Losing ones family obligous us to find ones family. Not always the family that is our blood but the family that can become our blood." -
Sean Connery in Finding Forester
To me it represents the sum of my experiences. I was
separated from my birth family but from that tragedy I found a new family. A family that was not of my blood but over the years has become my blood. I think being adopted and being taken care of by people who are not related to you changes how you think of the world family.
So I ask, how do you define family?
