Signing Up with an Agency
Randy and I have decided to seek help from an adoption agency. So we got the big packet in the mail today. :-) It was like getting the notebook for the homestudy all over again. But I think this one will be more fun--there are pages full of questions about what we like, don't like, what we believe, how we deal with everything from traditions to discipline. I kinda feel like we already answered these questions, but it will be fun to go back through them again, I'm sure.
We decided to move to working with an agency because we just didn't feel like we could network enough for ourselves the way we were going. It would be great if I didn't have to go back to work, but teaching calls me, and I have to answer her siren song. :-) So wish us luck! We are going to be working with Adoption & Beyond, out of Overland Park, Kansas. They completed our homestudy for us, and were there for us through our first private adoption as well. If we can make a match without them, it would save us a ton of money, and I think it would also be a great way to make a connection with a birthmom. So keep your fingers crossed, and your prayers going up, that we will find the birthfamily that was meant to be part of our family. I pray every night that God will bring us together some how. I know that He will. He is so good!

Yep, we are actually networking with a lawyer in Wichita and Kansas City so far, and will be working with one in Topeka soon, we just have to send him a check and more picture profiles.
I really am excited, but a little exhausted. My school year starts next week, and I've been at work all this week trying to get everything ready, so I think we'll probably put off getting the packet filled out until I can focus better on it.
We also started looking at parentprofiles.com. We've been thinking about using them for the last 5 months or so, and have heard some good things about them. We can save ourselves money by networking on our own, and still use the agency for a private adoption if we find them on our own. This is all so overwhelming, but I think we are definitely getting closer--as we now are working more on the financial part, and have been able to wrangle together more money than we thought possible in the last few months. Loans--gotta love them. ;-) Thank you for the encouragement and support! I really need it. :-)

Hey Karla! Yea! on getting that packet in the mail! I think Adoptions and Beyond is a good agency who networks with a lot of other agencies in the KS/MO area-which is an added bonus for you!
Have you ever thought about networking with the different adoption attornies in your area also? Usually their costs aren't nearly as much as an agency which helps with the whole financial aspect....agencies nowadays are hiking their prices up more and more it seems. Just a thought! GOOD LUCK!!! Yippee!!!

Good luck! We used a agency for both of our adoptions. I hope you get the call soon. Fingers crossed, prayer said.
