- Share a little about your adoption story
- I'm Heather and I have been considering adoption for about 2 years now. I haven't been lucky enough to find the right man to be my husband and a father to our children. I started pursuing adoption in 2008. Being a single woman, I know that many will disqualify me right away . In some ways I can understand this but I have so much love to give to a child and I am everyone's favorite "aunt" around here. I even have a room just for all the kids that come to visit and stay at my house. I have been picky about who I will date and/or marry so that I have a good husband who will be a good father. No luck yet.
I'm 36... and I work in higher education. I was a Spanish and English teacher for 7 years prior to working at colleges. I also teach English as a Second Language and CPR/First Aid classes as ways to give back to my community. I have been an educator my whole life and currently teach GED and English as a Second Language
I live in South Central PA and I have a small but very supportive and close-knit family who would love to add another child to it. I am very supportive of open adoption since I can't imagine giving up my child and now knowing how he or she grew up. I am also very honest when talking to people about my life. I am not perfect and will not just give you the answers you want, but the truth, whether it be good, bad or ugly.
I recently went through a failed adoption. I worked with a women who was due in September 2009. The baby came early and suddenly the father cared so we had to play a waiting game. The BM became attached, of course, and couldn't give up the baby. I am still very close to her and all 4 of her children It was the most difficult thing I have ever been through but I'm hoping to get lucky and find someone else who will give me the chance to be a mommy. . I still really want to adopt. I am home study ready and my family is waiting to add one more miracle to it.
